Found wandering Capitol State Forest, Aspen was matted, frightened, and unsure of the world around her. Her rescuers weren’t certain she had ever lived inside a home. Today, thanks to her foster family, this sweet girl is discovering how good life as a dog can be.

Aspen has blossomed in foster care, warming up to the entire family... including their middle- and high-school-age children. She has had positive interactions with dogs and positive-to-neutral interactions with cats.

She loves walks and is learning something new every day.

Her future family will need to bring patience along with love. Aspen is still working on potty training. Her caregivers believe she may have spent much of her life in a crate, so household routines are new to her.

A consistent schedule and encouragement will help her keep making progress.

Aspen also has strong herding instincts, especially around small animals such as chickens, and sometimes other dogs.

An adopter who understands those instincts and can provide gentle, consistent guidance would be a good fit.
