Caskets, Costumes and Creepy Finds Await in Boo-Coda |

Bucoda is embracing its spooky side! The south Thurston County town’s annual Boo-Coda Halloween celebration continues this Saturday with casket races, ghost-hunting tips, seasonal shopping and a costume contest with cash prizes.
Browse the Haunted Vendors Market between Liberty Market and Joe’s Place, where vendors will offer seasonal goods, handmade crafts and spooky treasures. Whether you’re hunting for Halloween décor or a unique gift, take a wander and see what catches your eye.
Curious about things that go bump in the night? Head upstairs in the community building for Ghost Hunting 101 with Jake Rice of Ghostly Activities. This introductory class covers essential paranormal investigating equipment, how to analyze evidence and ethical ways to explore reportedly haunted places. Participation is by donation.
One of the day’s most unusual attractions is the Bright Nights Casket Races, sponsored by BrightNight. Teams will send their handcrafted caskets racing down Main Street, competing for first, second and third place—and the dubious honor of “Dead Last.” Additional awards recognize the Scariest Casket, Funniest Casket, Most Original Casket, and Best Costumed Team & Cortege. Want to enter? Team registration is $100, with rules and registration available online.
Your own Halloween outfit could also be a winner. The Costume Contest welcomes all ages, with no theme required. Cash prizes are $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. Register at the booth in front of Town Hall.
